Dubai Supreme Council of Energy announces savings of 5.4 TWh of electricity and 9.9 billion gallons of water in its 2020 report on DSM Strategy

In its annual report on the results of the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2030, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has announced that Dubai achieved savings of 11.8% in electricity consumption and 7.9% in water in 2020, compared to normal consumption. This is equivalent to saving 5.4 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity and 9.9 billion imperial gallons of water.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that its installed capacity has reached 12,900 megawatts (MW) of electricity and 490 million imperial gallons of desalinated water per day (MIGD) thanks to its state-of-the-art infrastructure, innovation and planning. This is in line with DEWA’s efforts to keep pace with increasing demand for electricity and water, as well as Dubai’s ambitious urban and economic plans.

DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative supports electric vehicle adoption in Dubai

The EV Green Charger initiative, launched by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), provides a network of electric vehicle chargers across Dubai. This initiative supports Dubai efforts to provide innovative and sustainable transport solutions as part of the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, thus contributing towards carbon emission reduction in the transportation sector. DEWA’s continuous development of this initiative and the launch of its free-charging incentive have increased the number of registered electric vehicles in Dubai.

Dubai Supreme Council of Energy issues Directive No. 3 of 2021 on the regulation of LPG trading

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, has issued Directive No. 3 of 2021 on the regulation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) trading, in order to protect the environment and society, by implementing the highest standards of safety and security. This includes the transportation, storage, and distribution of LPG, whether through cylinders or transport tanks.

Submissions of applications for 4th Emirates Energy Award extended until 31st August, 2021

The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has extended the submission deadline for the fourth Emirates Energy Award (EEA) until 31st August 2021. This is a step towards attracting further distinguished participation and enriching the award through leading and innovative practices from the UAE and the region to enhance renewable energy and energy efficiency.
